In most cases, each piece of metal garden art will be supplied in their mild steel state of black/grey. The ‘rusting’ process starts immediately and takes around 6 months to develop an all over golden patina.
During the first year you may find that the surface lightly flakes. This is part of the process and it settles down without intervention and before long boasts a beautiful mottled, warm and golden glow. No maintenance or protection is needed; just enjoy the process as the natural finish continues to improve with age.
